This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Palace Museum. In September, the first two courtyards of the Ningshou Palace Garden, better known as the Qianlong Garden, opened to the public for the first time, offering a rare look at its exquisitely crafted architecture. The Qianlong Garden is nestled in the northeast corner of the Forbidden City. Emperor Qianlong commissioned it as his dream retreat for his retirement. Its restoration was a joint effort by the World Monuments Fund and the Palace Museum.
