While few people understand the inner workings of a high-profile criminal investigation, retired Phoenix Police Detective Troy Hillman lived it for decades.
Hillman was a key figure in solving the "Canal Killer" case, a series of murders that haunted the Valley for 20 years.
The investigation began in the early 1990s following the deaths of two women in Phoenix, whose bodies were discovered near local canals.
