A local gelato shop could be facing thousands of dollars in potential losses after a vehicle struck its new mobile vending cart.

The collision occurred around 8:50 a.m. outside Allora Gelato, located near the intersection of Scottsdale Road and Shea Boulevard. The business has been operating at that location for just over a year.

Scottsdale Police identified the driver as an older woman. Authorities reported that no one sustained serious injuries requiring immediate medical attention at the scene.

While an official cause has not been released, the shop’s owners said they believe the driver mistakenly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake pedal. In addition to the physical damage to the cart, the owners said the crash resulted in several canceled event bookings.
