Dozens of Australian sporting greats have joined calls for a royal commission into the Bondi Beach terror attack.

70 sports legends signed an open letter calling on Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to order a full Commonwealth enquiry to tackle rising antisemitism.

Athletes who signed the letter include Ian Thorpe, Jess Fox, Michael Clarke, Lleyton Hewitt and Grant Hackett.
