The opening ceremony of the "Yau Ma Tei Police Station: A Cinematic Journey" exhibition was held on January 1. Located at 627 Canton Road, Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon, this pre-war police station is a treasured heritage landmark and a famous filming location for numerous movies.
This exhibition is one of the key projects by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government’s Working Group on Developing Tourist Hotspots. It showcases film sets reconstructed by Hong Kong film professionals, collectable items and original pieces, presenting the city’s memories of the era portrayed in Hong Kong crime film classics.
The exhibition covers the ground floor of the station, beginning with a theater-style entrance and leading visitors through a cinematic tunnel into familiar film settings such as the lineup room, armory, surveillance office and detention cell. Visitors are taken on an immersive journey to relive the city’s cinematic memories and appreciate the unique creativity of local filmmakers.
