US President Donald Trump announced that the United States will temporarily administer Venezuela following the capture of Nicolas Maduro by American special forces. Trump declared, ‘We’re going to run the country until such time as we can do a safe, proper and judicious transition.’ The President also outlined plans for US oil companies to restore Venezuela’s infrastructure. General Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, detailed ‘Operation Absolute Resolve,’ revealing that the mission involved over 150 aircraft and months of intelligence gathering on Maduro’s daily habits. The operation, executed without US casualties, saw Maduro transported to the USS Iwo Jima.
