Venezuela has blasted President Trump’s order to blockade waters near the South American nation and prevent passage of sanctioned oil tankers as "warmongering threats."
In a statement, the government said Trump’s "irrational blockade" was a "grotesque threat" and an attempt to "steal" the nation’s oil wealth.
"The President of the United States intends to impose, in an absolutely irrational manner, a supposed naval military blockade on Venezuela with the objective of stealing the wealth that belongs to our homeland," the Venezuelan government said in a statement.
Venezuelan exports fell sharply this week as US actions disrupted shipping lanes.
This comes after the US President sensationally declared the ‘Venezuelan regime’ a foreign terrorist organisation.
