New South Wales Police and Counter Terrorism Minister Paul Toole says a federal royal commission into the Bondi Beach massacre would be a “sensible step in the right direction” and “what the country needs”.

The Daily Telegraph has reported 11 of the 15 families of victims have called for the federal royal commission into the Bondi attack.

“Here we are with the worst terrorist attack that we’ve seen here on Australian soil, and yet we’ve got a prime minister who is refusing to hold a royal commission,” Mr Toole told Sky News Australia.
“This is about trying to understand what things need to change.

“We need to understand what processes we need to do better to ensure that we keep Australians safe going into the future.”
