On Tuesday afternoon (16), the Civil Police arrested a 44-year-old businessman, who confessed to having murdered Mayla Rafael Martins. To investigators, the businessman confessed to the crime and claimed that the victim tried to extort him after a sexual program.

Mayla Rafael Martins, a 23-year-old trans woman, was found on Tuesday (16), dead on the banks of the MT-485 highway, about one kilometer from BR-163, between the municipalities of Sorriso and Lucas of Rio Verde, in Brazil. The body of Mayla Rafael Martins was found by workers at the Rio Verde farm, wrapped in a pool canvas with several knife wounds on her back.

Mayla Rafael Martins was last seen alive, at a party in the early hours of Monday (15), and the Civil Police reached the suspect with the help of the victim’s friend, who received a photo of the car’s license plate, in the which the victim had left with the killer, the black Polo Sedan car, belonging to the businessman’s wife, which was at a gas station. Mayla Rafael Martins, before getting into the car, sent a photo of the license plate to her friend.

Based on the sign, the police came up with the name of the suspect, who has a hamburger restaurant in Lucas do Rio Verde and when questioned, confessed to having murdered the victim. He claimed that after a disagreement related to a sexual program, he got into a physical fight with Mayla Rafael Martins after suffering an extortion attempt and upon realizing that she was dead, he wrapped her body in a plastic pool, then placed it in the trunk of the car, together her belongings and left along the highway towards Sorriso.

In the Rio Verde farm area, he entered a road, turned off the headlights and abandoned the body. He then took all of the victim’s belongings and threw them into the river. At the police station, in addition to narrating the facts, he also presented a knife, approximately 20 centimeters long, used in the crime. The body was sent to the IML (Legal Medical Institute) for autopsy examination. The businessman will be charged with the crime of feminicide, according to information from the Civil Police.
