On Monday (11), Giovanni Quintella Bezerra, the anesthesiologist arrested in the act for raping a pregnant woman during a cesarean section, was taken to the Benfica prison, in the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

On the same day, the Regional Council of Medicine of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Cremerj), a process to expel Giovanni Quintella Bezerra. The doctor’s hearing will be held this Tuesday (12), from 1 pm to 6 pm, according to the Court of Justice of Rio de Janeiro.  Giovanni Quintella Bezerra was indicted for rape of a vulnerable person, whose penalty ranges from 8 to 15 years in prison.

Giovanni Quintella Bezerra‘s defense alleges that he has not yet obtained full access to the testimonies and evidence that were produced during the drawing up of the arrest warrant in the act.  The defense also informs that after having access to its entirety, it will manifest itself on the accusation made against the anesthesiologist.
