Joint Investigation Finds No Fraud in Allegations Involving Former U.S. Law Enforcement Personnel and Current Government Employee.
In the first allegation, USAID’s Office of Inspector General (OIG) and the Department of the Interior OIG conducted a joint investigation into purported bribery and kickback schemes involving two U.S.-based entities and former U.S. law enforcement officers connected to a USAID procurement.
The investigation did not find evidence of criminal misconduct. In the second allegation, OIG and the Department of Interior OIG investigated allegations that USAID improperly made an award due to improper interference by a Department of Interior employee.
The joint investigation found no evidence that the award was improperly influenced by any federal official. USAID OIG continues to pursue investigations of fraud, corruption, diversion, and other related misconduct involving U.S. foreign assistance across multiple agencies.
OIG reminds personnel and awardees to continue reporting allegations of fraud, waste, abuse, and misconduct to OIG’s Hotline, consistent with award requirements and other legal obligations.
