The accident happened this Wednesday (22), in the final of the Artistic Swimming World Championships in Budapest, Hungary. US artistic swimmer Anita Álvarez, 25, was rescued by the team’s coach from the bottom of a pool after collapsing.

She was playing in the free solo final when she stopped breathing and sank.
The athlete’s coach, Andrea Fuentes, was the one who rescued Álvarez, who was then carried for medical attention on a stretcher. The American team reported that the athlete “does well” after the scare.
