Israeli attacks leave at least 20 dead in Gaza

An India Today investigation, titled ‘The Ayushman Villains’, reveals the ground reality of the Ayushman Bharat scheme, exposing how private hospitals in Delhi NCR, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh deny cashless treatment to beneficiaries. Undercover footage shows empanelled facilities, such as Sushila Hospital in Narela and Indus International Hospital in Mohali, demanding cash payments from eligible patients. Hospitals cite pending government payments as a primary reason for rejecting cardholders. In response, Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh acknowledged the issue, stating there are "bad sheeps" and that some hospitals had already been suspended. He attributed the problem partly to a financial dispute, claiming the central government owes Punjab 300 crore rupees, and announced a new state health scheme. The report highlights the struggle of patients caught between the state and central governments’ funding conflicts, unable to access promised healthcare services.
