Abdul El-Sayed addressed Donald Trump and Republicans strategy to target him in midterm elections outside a Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee meeting in Washington DC Wednesday.

The Republican president and his party have repeatedly referenced El-Sayed ahead of the 2026 elections, singling out the Democratic candidate for Senate while talking about races nationwide. El-Sayed’s opponent, Mike Rogers, did not appear on a debate stage last week amid the tight race, too.

"I had an empty podium debate and I was thinking, am I going to am I going to debate an empty podium or an empty suit? Because at the end of the day, it’s the same story. Mike Rogers has nothing to say and he’s stuck between a rock and a hard place because the only thing he can do is apologize for the terrible policies that Donald Trump is enacting."
