Arizona ranks among worst states for red light crashes

Arizona drivers caused nearly 6,000 collisions by running red lights in 2024, with 64 of those being deadly, according to a report released by the Arizona Department of Transportation. Ed Taube, a defensive driving instructor for the Arizona Chapter of the National Safety Council, said Arizona leads the nation in red-light crashes. The deadly problem shows no signs of slowing down despite ongoing safety efforts.
