The Arizona Supreme Court has clarified enhanced sentencing for child sex crime suspects, even if the “child” was actually an undercover officer. The case, State of Arizona v. Hon. James E. Marner/Hanees Mohamed Haniffa, centers around the arrest of Haniffa, who was charged with trying to lure a child under 15 after chatting online with an undercover officer posing as a minor. The Arizona Court of Appeals agreed with the trial court, but on Friday, the Arizona Supreme Court reversed both decisions. Reporter Alexis Dominguez has the story.
