Asylum seeker guilty of raping 12 year old girl as police accused of HIDING his ethnicity

An Afghan asylum seeker has been found guilty of abducting, raping, and taking an indecent video of a 12-year-old girl.
Ahmad Mulakhil was unanimously convicted after jurors at Warwick Crown Court deliberated for seven hours and 39 minutes. He was cleared of a second count of rape.
Co-defendant Mohammad Kabir, also an Afghan national, was acquitted of intentional strangulation, committing an offence with intent to commit a sexual offence and attempting to abduct a child.
Mulakhil was remanded in custody and will be sentenced on a date to be fixed.
Kabir, who is 24 according to court documents but told jurors he is 22, was cleared after maintaining that he never touched the victim and had no sexual intentions towards her.
Jurors at a 10-day trial were told that Mulakhil arrived in the UK four months before the rapes and had made an immigration application linked to "problems" he had experienced in Afghanistan.
