At debate, Darline Graham ‘not that informed on national security,’ Ralph Norman calls Taiwan ‘ally’

President Donald Trump is heading to South Carolina days after a debate in the state’s US Senate primary eelction saw Darline Graham stumble amid a question on Taiwan.

"I’m just going to be honest here," the Trump-endorsed candidate said when asked about Taiwan and the South China Sea. "I’m not that informed on national security, so — but I do support the military."

The other candidate in the Republican primary, Ralph Norman, was quick to label Taiwan an ally. Graham was appointed to fill the remainder of her brother’s term just days after Sen. Lindsey Graham died on July 11 of arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease. The winner of the special election will replace Lindsey Graham on the November ballot to take on Democratic nominee Annie Andrews in the midterm election.
