B.C. Short term rental ban will temporarily be lifted during FIFA World Cup in one municipality

The town of View Royal, BC will temporarily lift restrictions on short-term rentals like Airbnb and vrbo during the FIFA World Cup Tournament this summer.
Hundreds of thousands of soccer fans are expecting to pour into the Pacific Northwest during the tournament, with seven games being played in Vancouver and another six in Seattle.
With hotel accommodations expected to be scarce, View Royal is hoping to boost the local economy by cashing in on some of that fan spillover.
From June first to July 31 owners of apartments and other homes will be allowed to rent out their spaces, then as of August first the ban will be back in play.
