Hizb ut-Tahrir, an Islamic group banned as a terrorist organisation in multiple countries, has submitted a letter to a NSW parliamentary inquiry opposing proposed hate speech laws, arguing they risk inflaming tensions and suppressing freedoms. The NSW government is set to appoint two coordinator generals, Joseph La Posta from Multicultural NSW and Michele Goldman from the Jewish Board of Deputies, to oversee the Bondi recovery and ensure grieving families can access support including funeral payments and compensation. Some families have reported bureaucratic delays in accessing assistance.
