In this bulletin focused on Mumbai’s BMC elections, prominent voices discuss the most urgent civic issues facing residents. Advertising professional Bharat Dabholkar states, ‘Mumbaikers don’t give a damn. And that’s why they deserve the kind of situation that we are in right now,’ expressing concern over widespread voter apathy. Author and actor Tara Deshpande elaborates on BMC’s operational delays, budget allocations, and unfilled vacancies, noting significant gaps in delivery of basic amenities. Dr Apratim Goyal highlights the impact of inadequate sanitation on public health, while author Meghna Pant decries the dangers of divisive identity politics shaping voter behaviour. As Mumbai prepares to vote tomorrow, the panel urges citizens to look beyond rhetoric and focus on improving the city’s core infrastructure and public services.
