The House Oversight Committee has voted to hold former US President Bill Clinton and former First Lady Hillary Clinton in contempt of Congress.
The vote saw Republicans and Democrats come together, with the vote teeing up a full vote in two weeks that could see criminal charges against the Clintons.
The committee voted 34-8 in favour of holding Bill Clinton in contempt for failing to comply with a subpoena to testify about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.
The resolution stated the former president “impeded an Oversight Committee investigation” into Epstein and his former accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell.
The Clintons’ refusal to comply also saw the couple obstruct the committee inquiries into “the circumstances and subsequent investigations of Mr Epstein’s death.”
