On this India Today special report, Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar discusses the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) clean sweep in the Maharashtra local body elections. Narvekar asserts, ‘These numbers clearly demonstrate the trust and faith that Mumbaikars have on the Bharatiya Janata Party, its leadership, Shri Devendra Fadnavis, under whose leadership we have contested this election.’ He attributes the victory to major infrastructure projects like the Atal Setu and the Mumbai Coastal Road, framing the result as a mandate for progress. The bulletin also features analysis from Rajat Sethi and Rajdeep Sardesai on the BJP’s organizational discipline compared to a fragmented opposition. While the opposition cited being outspent and a lack of joint rallies as reasons for their performance, the panel highlights Devendra Fadnavis’s pivotal role in leading the campaign without the presence of central heavyweights. The discussion underscores a generational shift within the BJP as it establishes dominance across the state’s municipal corporations.
