The Mesa Police Department has taken control of the city’s park ranger unit following an internal investigation into allegations of racial slurs and aggressive enforcement.
New accountability measures for the unit include mandatory body-worn cameras and updated tracking software to ensure better oversight of community interactions.
Officials are currently looking to hire eight additional rangers to bring the unit to a full staff of 14. FOX 10’s Nicole Krasean reports.
