A father-son duo opened fire on a crowd gathered on Sydney’s Bondi Beach during a Jewish Hanukkah celebration, police said, killing 15 people in the worst shooting in Australia in almost 30 years.

The 50-year-old father was killed at the scene while his 24-year-old son was in critical condition in the hospital and is expected to face criminal charges, police said in a news conference.

About 40 people were hospitalized immediately following the attack, including two police officers who are in serious but stable condition, police said. The victims are between 10 and 87.
