City won’t clear driveway windrows: Too expensive

After weeks of heavy snow, Ottawa residents are frustrated by the massive windrows left by city plows at the end of their driveways. CTV’s Tyler Fleming reports on why the city says it cannot afford to clear them, citing a potential cost of over $20 million annually. While municipalities like Mississauga offer a windrow clearing program for a fee, Ottawa officials say the city’s vast road network makes it unfeasible. The Snow Go Assist program remains available for eligible seniors and people with disabilities.
