The Coalition is expected to block anti-vilification laws in response to the Bondi attack due to concerns over the exemption for religious texts.

A discussion with the Opposition leadership group last night raised major reservations about the bill’s rushed nature.

The Liberal Party is concerned about the religious text exemption and fears the racial vilification provision is too broad.

A senior government source confirmed Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is willing to work with the Coalition on the law.
