In a speech at the Pentagon honoring the 25th anniversary of the 9/11, former George W. Bush Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice revealed she has feelings of "deep, personal remorse" over the terrorist attacks. Rice talked about the trauma inflicted on the nation by the attacks and looked forward, too.
"Our country did not let that dark vision of humanity stand. That vigilance is still required to protect and secure us," Rice said. "We are American. That we are called to protect each other and to care for one another. That freedom is fragile and must be defended and won by every generation."
