Democratic leaders have been brutally mocked for holding a cringeworthy candlelight vigil on the anniversary of the January 6 riots.
Senate Democrats led a moment of silence on the steps of the US Capitol to remember the attack on lawmakers five years ago.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries spoke at the gathering.
At least five people died in the Capitol siege and its aftermath, including Ashli Babbitt, who was shot and killed by police.
Many on social media criticised the candlelight vigil as “performative” and “cringe.”
