A major emergency is currently unfolding as a freak deluge near Lorne on Victoria’s Great Ocean Road has caused widespread flash flooding. Cars have been swept into the ocean and campgrounds are underwater. New protest laws in Sydney grant police powers to restrict demonstrations for up to 90 days, with protesters warned they face arrest if they breach the bans.
