Former Army chief Peter Leahy is supporting calls for a royal commission into the Bondi massacre.
He is accusing members of the government of being opposed to a public inquiry for political reasons.
The ex-army boss is rejecting Labour’s claim a public inquiry was not an appropriate forum for national security issues.
He joins Former Prime Minister John Howard, who is escalating his criticism of Anthony Albanese, saying he failed to treat Bondi as a national tragedy.
