On this edition of SoSouth, the focus is on the escalating constitutional standoff in Tamil Nadu as Governor R.N. Ravi walked out of the State Assembly shortly after the session commenced. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin termed the exit an ‘insult to the Tamil Nadu assembly’ and moved a resolution to record only the prepared speech. The Governor’s office cited interruptions and the switching off of his microphone as reasons for the departure. The bulletin also covers the legal battle over the release of the film ‘Jananayagam’, starring Vijay, which remains stalled due to CBFC certification issues currently being heard in the Madras High Court. Additionally, the report highlights the plight of Rameshwaram fishermen facing arrests by the Sri Lankan Navy and the potential summoning of Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar to Delhi by the Congress High Command to resolve internal leadership friction.
