US President Donald Trump has triggered protests in Greenland after announcing new tariffs on European nations backing Denmark’s sovereignty over the territory.
The White House has imposed 10 per cent tariffs on eight European countries, pushing the EU to call an emergency meeting of ambassadors in Brussels.
A number of European Union members have said that a line has been crossed over President Trump’s tariff threats.
A potential retaliation against the US has been floated, which is to activate the EU’s powerful anti-coercion instrument.
