In Barcelona, hundreds of swimmers braved the Mediterranean Sea for the traditional first swim of the year at Barcelona Beach.
In Rome, divers welcomed the New Year, honouring the traditional Tiber Dive as swimmers leapt into the River Tiber from Cavour Bridge.
In Berlin, thousands gathered at the Brandenburg Gate for New Year’s Day fun run as more than 4-thousand runners took part in the 4-km circuit through the city.
