Inflation rises 3.4 per cent in the year to November

The latest inflation data has just been released by the Bureau of Statistics ahead of the first interest rate decision of 2026.
The data reveals an inflation rise of 3.4 per cent in the year to November.
This is better than what the market was expecting, as they were expecting 3.6 per cent.
This is a slightly delayed batch of information, as it doesn’t take into account the Boxing Day sales period and post Black Friday sales.
It is an encouraging figure, but it is not a firm indicator that a rate rise is necessarily coming, although it shows inflation is heading in the right direction.
