Despite souring ties with their biggest trading partner China and uncertainty over US policies, Japan’s largest business groups are cautiously optimistic about economic prospects this year. At an annual event attended by some 1,500 industry leaders, Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi also called for their cooperation to strengthen economic growth. She urged them to promote technological advancement and investment, raise wages and improve crisis management. Michiyo Ishida reports from Tokyo.
