Jennette McCurdy Details “Exhausting” Romance With Older Man as Teen

Jennette McCurdy spoke out about a difficult and “exhausting” relationship with an older man during her teenage years. During a Jan. 7 episode of ‘Call Her Daddy,’ Jennette spoke with host Alex Cooper about her new novel, ‘Half His Age,’ which draws from her first real relationship. Jennette shared that she was just 17 or 18 at the time, while the man she was involved with—whom she met on the set of ‘iCarly’—was in his mid-30s. Jennette explained that the dynamic left her feeling emotionally drained, saying she was often at his “beck and call” and describing the experience as “just exhausting.” The relationship ultimately ended following the death of her mother, Debra McCurdy, in 2013. Reflecting on the age gap now, Jennette says, “Can you imagine now being with like a [teenager]? Creepy.”
