This Special Report, anchored by Akshita Nandagopal, examines critical political developments in India. The broadcast details the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and actor Vijay regarding the Karur stampede case, which resulted in 41 fatalities. Officials are investigating lapses and the leader’s delayed arrival at the site. Simultaneously, the report covers the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership transition as Nitin Naveen is declared the new national president, succeeding J.P. Nadda. Elected unopposed with 37 nomination papers, Naveen represents a generational shift ahead of a formal ceremony attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The program further analyzes the escalating political face-off in Tamil Nadu, where the AIADMK has promised ₹2,000 monthly assistance for women to challenge the DMK’s existing ₹1,000 scheme. Featuring ground reports from Madurai and expert analysis, the broadcast explores legal challenges, populist election strategies, and the cultural significance of Pongal in the context of state archaeological findings and regional pride.
