Kevin James sparks Super Bowl buzz with viral heartbreak stunt during Bad Bunny halftime show
Actor Kevin James surprised Super Bowl viewers by appearing heartbroken alone in stands

Actor Kevin James caught the attention of Super Bowl viewers after appearing visibly dejected and alone during Bad Bunny’s halftime performance at Super Bowl LX, a moment that quickly went viral on social media.

Footage circulating online showed the Grown Ups star seated in the grandstand wearing a suit and holding a bouquet of white flowers, surrounded by empty seats while fans around him focused on the field. His somber expression stood in stark contrast to the energetic atmosphere of the halftime show, prompting speculation and concern from viewers.

However, the appearance was later revealed to be a calculated marketing stunt. James was performing in character as Matt Taylor, a soft-spoken art teacher persona popular on TikTok and Instagram, to promote his upcoming romantic comedy Solo Mio. According to the report, the character’s name aligns with James’ role in the film, reinforcing theories that the viral social media account and Super Bowl appearance were part of a coordinated promotional campaign.

Social media users were quick to recognise the stunt, praising it as an innovative and subtle form of advertising. Several commenters described the move as “brilliant marketing” and applauded the decision to use the Super Bowl’s global audience to extend the film’s promotion beyond traditional commercials.

Despite the reveal, some viewers admitted the performance was convincing enough to still evoke sympathy. Messages expressing support for the actor flooded comment sections, with fans stating their affection for James and his long-standing on-screen persona.

Matt Taylor, the character portrayed by James, is known online for sharing calming painting videos and gentle motivational content. Fans had previously speculated that James was behind the account due to vocal similarities and mannerisms resembling his earlier sitcom roles, including The King of Queens.

James recently attended the New York premiere of Solo Mio, further solidifying the connection between the viral persona and the film’s promotional rollout.

Separately, another unrelated Super Bowl moment also gained traction online, featuring Robert Irwin dancing enthusiastically to Bad Bunny’s performance. The clip, which humorously highlighted Irwin enjoying the music despite not understanding the Spanish lyrics, was widely shared as a light-hearted and positive social media moment.
