Former foreign minister Alexander Downer says the Liberal Party must put its best performers on the frontbench and cease playing “factional games”.
“James Patterson is pretty much their strongest performer,” Mr Downer told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
“He needs to have a prominent position, but he’s in the Senate … they cannot afford to keep their best performers on the back bench.”
