Lindsay Clancy defense files for mistrial, prosecutor reacts, then judge makes ruling

On Day 19 of the Lindsay Clancy murder trial, defense attorney Kevin Reddington motioned for a mistrial over religious testimony from psychologist Kirk Heilbrun.
"I have to move for a mistrial," Reddington said. "The reason is – this is intentional misconduct on the part of the prosecution."
Earlier in the trial, Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Sprague mentioned mortal sin when questioning Sue Clancy, Patrick Clancy’s mother. Reddington objected, but didn’t move for a mistrial at that time.
"I felt the court’s instructions were sufficient," Reddington said of the previous occurrence. "Unfortunately at this point, … this is just over the top. It’s the same thing again – talking about religion. Talking about heaven."
Sprague said she didn’t ask about mortal sin, but the witness, Dr. Heilbrun, mentioned mortal sin as part of his testimony about his discussions with Clancy.
