Lindsay Clancy trial judge denies defense attorney Kevin Reddington request to remove holdout juror

The jury in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial resumed deliberations Thursday morning, Sept. 3, at Plymouth Superior Court for a sixth day. After twice telling Judge William Sullivan that they are deadlocked, the jury has been instructed to continue deliberation.

After Sullivan reminded the jurors of his instructions on reasonable doubt and sent them to continue deliberating, defense attorney Kevin Reddington said that the verdict is being held up by "one juror who refuses to listen to the law that you’ve given him or her." Reddington requested the holdout juror be removed.

Sullivan said the discharge of a juror is a sensitive undertaking. He said he responded to the specific question that was asked. "I don’t think it’s appropriate for me to say I agree with one juror or the 11," Sullivan said. He refused Reddington’s motion.
