The Lindsay Clancy murder trial resumes Thursday, Aug. 20 at Plymouth Superior Courthouse for day 17 of testimony, as the defense continues to argue that the 36-year-old Duxbury woman was not criminally responsible when she strangled her three children to death in January 2023.

Thursday’s testimony could begin with Dr. Margaret Spinelli, a professor of clinical psychiatry at Columbia University. Spinelli was listed as a defense witness for Wednesday, Aug. 19, but was not called before court adjourned.

Clancy is charged with three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of her children Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months. The prosecution says she acted rationally and deliberately when she killed the children, sending her husband Patrick Clancy out of the house on errands to provide the opportunity.
