Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood will give evidence to the Home Affairs Committee on the work of the Home Office.
The Government faces a major backbench uprising as dozens of Labour MPs threaten to oppose sweeping changes to Britain’s immigration settlement rules.
Mahmood’s plan to force migrants to wait twice as long for permanent residency has sparked outrage across parliamentary benches. Around 50 MPs signalled their intention to rebel, potentially delivering one of Sir Keir Starmer’s biggest parliamentary defeats.
