Israeli attacks leave at least 20 dead in Gaza

A 200-year-old canal bank in Shropshire, UK, collapsed during the night, creating a 50 by 50 metre sinkhole that swallowed two narrowboats. Millions of litres of water burst through the man-made embankment into an adjacent paddock, dragging the vessels into the cavity below. All boat owners were rescued unharmed, but several homes were destroyed, with residents being rehoused by the local council over Christmas.
