Meta settlement reaction: Mother of teen suicide victim ‘pleased,’ but hopes for more guardrails

Meta Platforms, the company behind Facebook and Instagram – agreed to pay up to $16.68 billion and make wide-scaling changes to its products as part of a monumental settlement with a coalition of attorneys general over assertions the company designed its apps to addict children and mislead the public.
A mother whose daughter died by suicide at the age of 16 welcomed the settlement as she looked for more guardrails on the platform.
