New S$80m AI-powered vertical farm to boost Singapore’s vegetable output

Singapore’s vegetable production is set to rise with the launch of the country’s largest indoor vertical farm in Jurong. The S$80 million Greenphyto facility, also the largest of its kind globally, can produce up to 2,000 tonnes of greens a year using AI-driven automation. The technology optimises growing conditions and improves yields, helping to lower costs. As production scales up, consumers could see prices fall by up to 10 per cent. The project supports Singapore’s goal of raising local vegetable production from 8 to 20 per cent by 2035. Natalie Ong tells us more.
