Noida’s ‘Death Traps’ Claim Life Of 27-Year-Old Yuvraj | ‘This is Murder, Not Accident’

0 January 20, 2026 10:31

On this Special Report, Sonal Mehrotra Kapoor investigates the tragic death of 27-year-old Yuvraj, whose car plunged into a 30-foot water-filled pit in Noida’s Sector 115. Kapoor highlights the systemic failure, stating, ‘This was murder, not an accident,’ as authorities allegedly watched for hours without adequate rescue equipment. The report reveals that the site, a stalled mall project, lacked basic safety measures like reflectors or barricades despite previous accidents. Following the outrage and media coverage, the Uttar Pradesh government ordered an SIT probe, leading to the transfer of the Noida Authority CEO and the arrest of builder Abhay Kumar. The broadcast further explores how affluent neighborhoods in Noida are surrounded by ‘death traps’—unprotected drains and pits—due to alleged collusion between officials and builders. Kapoor questions the accountability of the Noida Authority, noting that despite high property prices and large budgets, basic infrastructure and emergency response remains critically flawed.
