NSW police deploy 3,000 officers for Isaac Herzog’s visit

Israeli President Isaac Herzog’s visit commences on Monday, while the New South Wales police have been given a greater extension of their powers because they want to prioritise community safety while balancing the right for people to protest.
Mr Herzog will be in the country for four days, where he will mourn with Australia’s Jewish community in the wake of the Bondi Beach terror attack.
He is here after being invited by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who says this is going to be a show of solidarity, but it has drawn some criticism, as there are people who are unhappy because of Israel’s actions in Gaza and the rising death toll there.
Pro-Palestine groups are planning to protest in Sydney CBD on Monday, but now the NSW authorities have reiterated this morning that next week there will be a very significant police presence with about 3,000 officers in total.
