A pyrotechnic pontoon misfired on the Brisbane River just before 8 pm, prompting some spectators to run for cover.
Police confirmed it was only a minor incident, and no injuries were reported.
That didn’t delay the main fireworks show, which was enjoyed by around 200-thousand people.
